Tracking Settlement Information
A case settled? Great! Use the Settlement Info feature to keep track of all settlement and disbursement related data. This information is also used to produce Closing Statements and generate Settlement Reports within TrialWorks.
Set up Global Settings (Admin User Only)
- Choose Settlement Calculator
- Set up Firm Fees
- Choose Calculation options
Choosing “Enable Individual Client Settlement” allows a user to enter separate settlement information for a case with multiple Clients.
Work with the Settlement Calculator
The Settlement Calculator can be located in the following three places:
1)Current Case Ribbon
2)Negotiations Tab
3)Case Retainer Info Tab
- You can choose Settlement Calculator for an entire case or for individual client
- Summary Tab summarizes information from the Cost, Liens, and Case Retainer Info Tab
- Expense Tab summarizes information from the Cost Tab
- Firm Fees calculates from the percentage entered in Global Settings or allows for a manual input
- Liens summarizes information from the Liens Tab
- Referral Fees calculates from the percentage entered or allows for a manual input
- Entering a settlement amount will prompt a user to calculate the net to client
Entering Settlement Info
The Settlement Info screen can be located in the following three places:
1)Current Case Ribbon
2)Negotiations Tab
3)Case Retainer Info Tab
- You can choose settlement info per client or overall case
- Use the screen to enter important settlement information:
- Expected Settlement Date and Settlement Date
- Settlement Breakdown
- Date Release Sent to Client and/or to Insurance
- Who Settlement was against
- Enter check information
Generating Closing Statements and Settlement Reports
Reports are based on the information that was entered into the Settlement Information and Settlement Calculator
- Chose Current Case Ribbon then select a Closing Statement to generate
- Choose Reports>Financial and select Settlement for a choice of different reports
Tracking this information is key for a firm. In version 10.8 and above TrialWorks ships out with a Dashboard named “Case Settlement Info” which allows a user to view all this information for all their cases in one screen.
