| What happened in October 2025? | On 8/8/24, Microsoft made an announcement and shared a list of products retiring or reaching the end of support (EOS) in 2025. Per Microsoft, upon retirement or end of support, “there will be no new security updates, non-security updates, free or paid assisted support options or online technical content updates.” The full list and details can be found here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/end-of-support/end-of-support-2025
In October 2025, Microsoft ended support for Office 2016/2019, meaning Microsoft will no longer issue security updates or patches for those products. Trialworks is actively supported and our team continues to monitor for any downstream effects, addressing them as they arise. |
| How does that impact me? | If you are currently using any of the products included in the August announcement, you may be impacted. | This change had the potential to create isolated functionality issues. Our team continues to monitor and address any effects as they come up. If you experience anything unusual, contact our dedicated Trialworks hotline at 786-693-1300. | |
| What are the risks associated with this announcement? | There is a risk that users may be exposed to security vulnerabilities and compatibility issues with new software updates. Microsoft advises to upgrade to a supported version for optimal performance and security. |
| How is Assembly addressing this announcement? | The good news is we still have time to prepare. Assembly’s support team has created a dedicated hotline: 786-693-1300 (only available to Trialworks users) to help provide temporary fixes for any issues you might experience in Trialworks. Additionally, we’re investing substantially to reinforce Trialworks and ensure it continues to run smoothly for as long as possible. We will continue to support Trialworks, but our ability to make meaningful changes will diminish over time. |
| Will Assembly upgrade Trialworks to a supported version of Microsoft Office? | We will continue to support your Trialworks platform, patching and upgrading as possible to address any items we can, helping to resolve issues created by Operating System updates. We are committed to the continued support of Trialworks in it’s currently available state. |
| What are my options? | With the security risks and potential compatibility issues, we strongly recommend planning an upgrade to our modern cloud-based platform, Neos, well ahead of the End of Support date to avoid disruptions. While remaining on Trialworks is an option, you’ll find many added benefits in moving to the cloud. Our migration process has been carefully refined to minimize any disruption to your practice. Plus, transitioning to Neos is a smoother and more efficient process than moving to any competitor. |
| Are you offering incentives for Trialworks customers to transition to Neos? | Yes, we are offering attractive incentives on Neos subscription rates and transition costs from Trialworks to Neos. Additionally, you’ll receive a free one-year subscription to LawToolBox for all users—adding even more value to your practice. Please contact your Account Executive for details or request a demo of Neos. |
| What has Assembly done to make it easy for Trialworks customers to move to Neos? | We have written incredibly sophisticated scripts for seamlessly migrating your data and documents to Neos (depending on what implementation package you choose). |
| How many Trialworks migrations to Neos have you already completed? | We have completed hundreds of successful migrations over the past few years with dozens a month continuing to move to Neos. |
| Should I decide to move to Neos, will I have to pay for both products during the transition? | No. You can continue to use Trialworks under your current agreement until such time that your firm is live on Neos at which time the Trialworks fees will stop and Neos fees will begin (any remaining Trialworks fees will be credited). |
